CMHA Kelowna, Women & Wellness and Common Bond: A Fundraiser
I saw on a local online forum a request for a photographer to volunteer to document the CMHA Kelowna (Canadian Mental Health Association) fundraising event for Women & Wellness. I responded immediately because it’s a cause close to my heart. I have a special aunt who has valiantly battled mental illness her whole life. Also, during the years that I worked as a pharmacy assistant, I had the privilege of helping many patients and learning a little bit about their struggles. This is a MAJOR issue and I’m thrilled that there’s a group of amazing ladies known as the “Common Bond” who are on a mission to raise funds to support the needs of young people at risk in our community. I encourage you to click the highlighted links to learn more! Together, we can bring awareness, help ourselves and the people we care about and rid the negative stigma attached to mental health. Let’s turn “mental illness” into “mental wellness” ! 🙂
As you can see from the pictures, the fundraiser was hosted at the Bo.ttega Farm, a stunning venue (where I’m crossing my fingers that I get to photograph a wedding there some day)! Of course, an event like this goes so well because of the many sponsors and volunteers including Shoppers Drug Mart, Dandy Diva, Bell, Intrigue Wines, Cellar-Tek, Common Bond, Canadian Benefit Auctions, me, New Horizon Productions, Little Creek Dressing, Sharon Varette & Cam Kourany, The Yellow House Restaurant, Kelowna Insta Print, Total E’Clips Salon Spa, Georgie Girl, Sherry’s Grand Apparel, The Well Dressed Window, Urban Fare, Crescendo and Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre.
